Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge 168

Hello Everyone,

After my success last week with an Honorable Mention in the Fabric Challenge (thanks JAI girls) I was keen to join in again with their Sketch.  However I think it's a lot trickier to come up with something for this sketch design at Just Add Ink.   Go and check out the samples from the Design Team for some Inspiration.

Here is what I came up with using Pleasant Poppies and Loving Thoughts stamps.

See what I mean, coming up with something to resemble that diamond shape, I decided to make a window cutout in my card with the Apothecary Accent long framelit.  Well it has a point, at either end.  Once I made that decision, then the rest of the card fell into place.

My Cardstock is Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White (on Inside) and Vellum.  After I'd cut out the window I stamped with Stazon Ink onto the Vellum with the Pleasant Poppies background stamp.  I coloured the back of the image with Markers, Riding Hood Red, Cherry |Cobbler and Old Olive.  The white card behind the image on the inside of the card helps the colours show, as you can see in this photo below when it is flat and I've also added piercing detail around the whole shape.

Thanks for stopping by to see my card today.  Once I'd finished this and had it ready to photograph and load, I noticed that Narelle has used the same shape on her card, only horizontally.  I swear that photo wasn't there at the start when I saw the sketch.  Anyway, I'm confident that my card looks very different to Narelle's so she knows I did not copy her.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. This is lovely, Carolyn! I really like your idea of stamping, and colouring, on vellum - and the die cut shape you've used is perfect for the poppy image. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink (and you're not the only one who finds sketches a little tricky!!). :)

  4. Carolyn that long framelit die really suits the tall poppy image. That is one stamp set I don't have that is a possibility for my growing wishlist. Thanks for playing with our sketch this week at Just Add Ink.
