A Belated Birthday Surprise + today's card

Image
Hello Everyone, My Dear, Kind and Wonderful friend Marian surprised me with a very late Birthday gift and card.  I wanted to show this card to you.  It's absolutely gorgeous in real life.  Love the neutral tones and textures. She said the inspiration for this card came from Joybel Crafts.  I think that's a retail store. Here is a closeup, I think the birdcage is a die, but she assured me she spent a lot of time cutting it out for me, LOL!  I know how much she hates cutting. And there is a matching envelope, and this time she did decorate it with the SU Bird builder punch. Thank you so much, my Dear, Kind and Wonderful friend.  I love this card.  Have always loved those Bird cages. And now onto today's post This is another card I've created to use up some extra embossed vellum butterflies that I made last week.  Too many bits laying around at the moment, LOL!  Yes back to my favourite things, Butterflies. The cardstock is Primrose Petals for

Be Merry

Image
Hello Everyone, Are you enjoying your weekend, people?  We've just had a big thunderstorm here on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.  Certainly helped cool things off a little and the bit of rain was welcome.  I've spent the morning shopping with the girls and other than my craft have been catching up with online friends.  It's been a pretty good and relaxing weekend for the most part. Today I had a play with one of the new Single Stamps which arrived in my order on Friday, called Be Merry.  I love that it's a tag style stamp and it has a beautiful cursive font to it.  I've stamped in Coastal Cabana Ink onto Whisper White Card for my greeting.  My card base is Cherry Cobbler and I've embossed a layer of Coastal Cabana card with the Pretty Prints embossing folder then added some banners from card and co-ordinating Winter Frost dsp. If you think this card is familiar, then you may be right there.  I've CASE'd my good friend Justin (JK Cards), jus

Cards using up some Paper Scraps

Image
Hello Everyone, How are you this Saturday?  I have no particular plans other than it's school holidays here and I've taken my daughter to work for a few hours this morning. Things have been getting a bit messy again in my work area and thought it was time I dealt with some of the scraps I've created lately. I wanted to share some cards I've made to use up the ever increasing pile of bits cluttering my workspace.  Do you have that problem too?  I never want to throw anything out that I think I might be able to use, but you just can't keep storing everything.  I'm not just talking about craft items here either, but here are the cards. The first one uses the Beautiful Wings butterflies die.  I had cut out extra butterflies with the die earlier in the week trying out the embossed vellum look for another card. The base of my card is Pool Party and I've created a frame with Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry card with the Deco Label framelits.  The White

Just Add Ink 184 - Just Add Bows

Image
Hi Everyone, How are we this Friday?  I'm good, been to the Dentist this morning for my regular check.  The good news is today was relatively painless, the bad news is I have to go back for some fillings.  Yuck! There's a great challenge at Just Add Ink this week brought to us by Trish to Just Add Bows.  The paper variety are so popular at the moment so that's what I'm making today. I've used my Extra Large oval punch with some of the gorgeous Winter Frost Designer Series Paper pack.  This is one of the foil sheets from the pack for my bow.  I've kept this card simple and elegant making a square card, so that it looks like a gift. Here is a closeup of that bow. I've used Bermuda Bay and Whisper White cardstock today with the Winter Frost paper pack.  I really like the colour combinations in these papers.  You can pack these cards quite quickly and they look so effective. Thanks for stopping by today to view my card.  Please feel free

Paper Players 164

Hello Everyone, It's been an extremely hot day for September here today.  One of those days where you want to stay out of the heat and in air conditioning.  We thought the best place to be was the Shopping Centre for a few hours.  The added bonus there was I got to buy a new pair of shoes.  My girls also managed to spend some School Holiday Pocket money too. This is the sketch for this week's challenge over at the Paper Players .  This sketch is by Sandy and is one I really loved.  I'm so glad I could find the time this week to participate. I'm using some of the Winter Frost Specialty paper on my card with the Holiday Ornament Framelits, Pretty Prints Embossing Folder, Scallop Border punch and the new silver ribbon and Frosty Finish Embellishments today.  This wasn't what I had first intended to make but the heat got the better of me and I felt like using these cool colours. The cardstock is Coastal Cabana, Whisper White and Island Indigo.  Here is a c

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 60

Image
Hello from Downunder, Happy Wednesday everyone.  It's halfway through the working week and that means it's time for another sketch challenge at the Paper Craft Crew .  Here is this week's sketch. I've decided it's time to revisit my stash and use some papers from the Print Poetry stack for today's card, teamed with one of my favourite things, Butterflies.  I've used the Beautiful Butterflies die cutting them out from Vellum and then embossing them with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder. I've used the cooling blues and green combo for my card today, with the floral top piece so appropriate for Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere, but also for the cooling effect as it's decidely Hot here and feeling very like Summer today.  We are actually sweltering and there's a high fire danger and fire ban in place. What do you think of my card today?  I've added the Hexes from the bundle to represent the circles on the sketch and also the Ho

Hello Everyone, I've made another Country style Christmas Card with some of the plaid paper from the Sweater Weather designer paper pack.  It really reminds me of a tablecloth. Cardstock is Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand.  I've also used the  Hessian ribbon from the Holiday Catalogue.  The tree is from the stamp set Evergreen stamped in Early Espresso and the Greeting is from the set Greetings of the Season stamped with Crushed Curry. Both of these stamp sets are still available on the carryover Christmas flyer from last years Holiday Catalogue and the Hessian ribbon is in the current one. Thanks for calling in to see today's card.  Hope you have a good one.

Using more Retired stuff

Image
Hello Everyone, This one is another design made for my Christmas Card Buffet.  I combined retired stamp set Winter Post with retired card, Baja Breeze and the Evergreen stamp set from the carryover Christmas flyer.  This card was similar in design to the cards I made last week for the Create with Connie and Mary colour challenge in the pastels.  I just wanted to change the colours up a bit to coordinate with the cardstock I had on hand. The base of my card is Baja Breeze, the trims are Pistachio putting and the dsp is from Afternoon Picnic pack under the stamped Whisper White panel.  I've used one of the Frosty Finish embellishments in the top right corner and Teeny Tiny Sentiments on the Bitty Banners framelit for my greeting. Thanks once again for calling in to see today's card.  Many thanks for your comments too. I really appreciate them.  Have a great day.

Clean and Simple Christmas

Image
Hello Everyone, Just sharing a few more cards today from my recent Card Buffet.  I was digging through some of my retired stuff to create this design and came across the Holiday Frame Embossing folder which was available in last year's Holiday Catalogue. This CAS design is so quick to make and to replicate should you want to do a batch of them. The cardstock on this one is Island Indigo and Whisper White.  I've used dsp behind the embossed white layer from the Winter Frost stack.  Here is a closer look at the Ornament that I've cut from Dsp from the Specialty pack of the same name and some silver glimmer paper. The Holiday Ornament Framelits have been used on both my cards here and are still available for purchase from the carryover flyer from the 2012 Holiday catalogue.  Here is the next card. It's the same with a different ornament from the framelits cut from the Silver Glimmer with a Smoky Slate card base and some of the dsp added to the ornament.

A Jolly Fellow

Image
Hello Everyone, Today I'm sharing a card that uses a retired set called Jolly Old Saint Nick.  I don't think this one actually came to Australia at all, but a friend saw it on Ebay and bought it for me.  I love this Jolly guy. I've actually CASE'd a card from Justin (JK Cards) that he featured last year for my design as I was needing some CAS cards for my Christmas Card buffet that I held today. Here it is Now contrary to what some think, I do like a traditional Christmas Card, particularly with Santa.  There just has to be some Red & Green.  I love the crisp look of the White embossed background with that new Stylish Stripes Embossing folder from the Seasonal Catalogue. Have a closer look The Christmas Wishes is current from the stamp set That's the Ticket which has a co-ordinating ticket punch. Cardstock used today is Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green and Whisper White. Thanks very much for calling in to see what I'm up to today.  Have

Holiday Framelit Tree

Image
Hello Everyone, This is another card I've made for tomorrow's Christmas Card Buffet.  I decided to pull out last year's Holiday Framelits in the Tree shape to use with the Winter Frost 12 x 12 pack.  Here is the result. This is the Metallic paper from the pack for my tree, having backed it with some Whisper White card for body.  I've layered this onto a tag cut with the Chalk Talk framelits and added some banners. The Cardstock is Smoky Slate, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White.   The greeting is from the set Sweet Essentials.  My Coastal Cabana background has been embossed with the Pretty Print embossing folder.  Here is a closer look at that Tree Tag topped with a punched star from the Glimmer paper. Hope you have a great weekend.  Mine will be frantic starting with a mad dash to the airport to collect my husband who's flight has been changed to an earlier one tonight, then my Christmas Card Buffet in the morning.  Thanks very much for stopping by to

Merry Little Christmas - 2 cards

Image
Hello Everyone, I'm on a bit of a Christmas Card mission at the moment.  An upcoming Card Buffet will do that to you. I must have a number of different cards done for the ladies to choose to make at the Buffet and thought I would make it a little quicker and easier on myself by puchasing the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kit and Stamp set (page 27 Holiday Catalogue).  You can save on these products if purchased as a bundle. Here is the card I made with the kit.  I did make some modifications to it, adding a few extra bits, but that is the beauty of them.  You can keep them as quick and easy as you like, or add a little more and really dress them up. I embossed the tag with the Snow Flurry embossing folder and added a Real Red punched border as well as some Real Red grosgrain ribbon and a punched glimmer flower beneath the button.  I also stamped the greeting on some extra Whisper White card and cut with the Deco Label framelits before adding that to my tag,
