Music Teacher Farewell // Paper Players #173 Shaped Card Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It's a sad week for my daughter and her friends who have really enjoyed what the music program offered them at the High School this year.  Their very talented teacher will be moving on to a new school and they're having a little party for their last day of the Vocal ensemble practice which was an extra activity that he undertook with the students, as well as teaching them to play all sorts of instruments in lesson times.

His speciality though, Guitar!  I have decided to enter this card into the Paper Players Shaped Card Challenge this week.  While not specifically made for the challenge, I think it's a pretty cool shape and fits the criteria.  I also think more people deserve to see this card.

When asked to make a card for the group to give him, with that in mind I found some inspiration on Pinterest and came up with this card.

The hardest part for me was getting the shaping right, and I had to call on my Artistic daughter to draw the edge as I didn't have a template.  The music notes pattern comes from the Modern Medley dsp and the whole base of the card is Very Vanilla card which was sponged with ink to achieve the look of a guitar.  I used Daffodil Delight, More Mustard and an old one called Close to Cocoa.

I've used some Linen thread to create the strings, but in hindsight it may have been better to visit the local drapery to see what other thread I could get for that purpose.  The Linen thread is a little hairy.  The string was taken through the card on a needle and the ends taped on the inside, which I then covered up. Me and a needle??? You may well ask.  I know, LOL!  It's got to be a pretty special card for me to thread a needle, but it's also due to the fact that it's easier to get that darn thread through the holes with one, rather than without.  My eyes aren't what they used to be either. LOL!  I've used the neutral Candy Dots to cover the holes on the front.

I really hope you've enjoyed seeing this card today.  Mark Winters, you will be missed at this school.  Good luck with your next position.  We all wish you well.

Would love to hear your feedback on this card as the Music Teacher and all the students really loved it.

Bye for now.
