Can You Case It? #59 - By the Tide

Hello Everyone,

It's Sunday and once again time for the weekly challenge at Can You Case It?  Here are the details for this week.

I wanted to make a male card, so I'm using By the Tide stamp set today.  I've actually been asked to make a card that would be suitable for a Fisherman, and in the absence of a suitable Fishing stamp set, I've chosen to go with By the Tide to create an underwater scene.   The cardstock I've used is Night of Navy, Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Vellum.

I've combined By the Tide with the Wood Panel background stamp and  Circle collection framelits to create the look of a Cabin porthole here and I've also tinted my vellum with a brayer and torn it for the depths of water in the ocean.   The card front is the basic sketch.

Neutral Candy dots in Crumb Cake have been used to complete the porthole look.  The Whisper White card beneath the vellum layers was stamped with the Coral image in Calypso Coral ink.  I knew it wouldn't look as bright once the tinted vellum (brayered with Pool Party ink) went over the top.  A couple of fish were stamped separately in Night of Navy ink and coloured with Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate before being cut.  the one in the background has been adhered under the layers of vellum.  The one on top had the Crystal effects treatment and I love how it turned out.

The card would have been perfectly OK like this, but I wanted to add another dimension, by turning it into an easel card.  It also allowed me to use more stamps from the By the Tide stamp set.

This picture shows the inside of the card.

The shell has been stamped blended, fussy cut and mounted on the Decorative Label punch base.  I added some Crystal effects to my shell as with the fish above to give them a little bit of a sheen.  It was wiped over those elements rather than a heavy coat once they were hand cut.  The mounted shell forms the anchor for my easel card to stand.

The Birthday greeting comes from the stamp set called Teeny Tiny Sentiments which has been punched out and mat with both Word Window and Modern Label punches.

I'm very happy with this card, and I hope you like it too.  Please make sure you visit the Can You Case It? challenge site and see what our other Designers did with this week's sketch.  See you next time.

    1. Thanks so much Eva. I'm enjoying being part of the team. There's a lot more interaction among the members of this team than the other one I'm on.

    1. Thanks very much Michael. I'm often asked to make masculine cards and I quite enjoy making for the males. There's just not as many products out there.
